PC MAGAZINE AWARDS

In 1998 I won my first international award. I saved the notes of the speaker and here they are:

The final Intercon award is the sales person of the year award. This award goes to the salesperson who's not only demonstrated the ability to overachieve but also a person who finds a way to get the job done at no expense to the customer. Some other facts:
1. This person achieved 103% of budget. Yes, that's original budget set in December of '97. No changes, variances to forecast etc., original budget.
2. This person was responsible for a territory consisting of a dozen diverse countries and markets.
3. This person arguably has more responsibilities than anyone in the region, and, arguably the least amount of resources. Some of this persons responsibilities include: Assisting with forecasting for both sales and manufacturing. SKU's, making sure the correct SKU numbers are passed along to all partners. Understanding all programs so that he can localize them for in country use. All marketing and support to those countries goes through this person. In other words, a six to seven day a week job writing and coordinating marketing plans, seminars, training's, in country visits, contracts, bids with corporate accounts, governments, VAR's and channel partners, pre/post sales and technical support, relationships with distributors, and, oh yes getting the number with two weeks to go. Well, sometimes with 2-3 hours to go. Of course he's not alone there is he..
4. When in the States, Claudio is predictable, long hours in the office, working late, long after the Latin American business is closed for the day. So if I weigh, pound for pound, all these elements mentioned, Claudio comes out on top. It is with great personal and professional pleasure that I present the lntercon CY'98 "Sales Person of the Year award" to Claudio Briceno of Borland Latin America. Congrats!!!
